Advice worker drop-in: Family Rights Group’s online briefing – March 2026

Tuesday 3rd March 2026, 10am – 11am (online)

This online session provides a space for generalist advisers, or those without specialist knowledge of public family law and children’s services legal duties and powers, to:

• Understand how Family Rights Group’s Advice and Advocacy service supports families involved with children’s services.
• Learn when and how to signpost to us, and what families can expect from our service.

The session is grounded in day-to-day advice work and designed to strengthen working relationships.

Who should attend

This session is for any adviser, whether you’re paid or a volunteer. Many of the people you support may also be involved with children’s services, or might need their help; even if that’s not the main reason they come to you.

You do not need prior knowledge of Family Rights Group, or expertise in the law around children’s services involvement to attend.

Format

This is an online briefing which will take place via MS Teams. A Service Manager and one of our expert advisers will provide a brief overview of the service, after which there will be an opportunity to ask questions about how we work.

About Family Rights Group

Family Rights Group is a national charity, established 50 years ago. We work with parents whose children are in need, at risk, or are in the care system, and with kinship carers who are raising children unable to remain at home.

Our Advice and Advocacy service provides independent, specialist advice to families involved with children’s services. It helps families understand and navigate child welfare systems.

In 2023-2024, after calling our advice line:

• 93% of families said that the advice line was helpful
• 86% of families have a better understanding of what they have to do
• 82% of families feel the call influenced their ability to cope.
