About this service
Birth Companions is a women’s charity dedicated to tackling inequalities and disadvantage during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period, including for women facing or experiencing separation from a baby. The women we support face many difficulties which can often make pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period a time of anxiety, stress and hardship. These can include being in contact with the criminal justice system, involvement with children’s social care, immigration issues, homelessness, poverty, mental ill-health and a history of domestic violence or sexual abuse. We work to offer support to women facing these challenges.

- Advocacy support to help birth family members get their views across when dealing with children’s services and other official agencies
- Another specialist service Antenatal classes, remote 1:1 antenatal education, 1:1 birth support, 1:1 postnatal support around separation, signposting and referrals to specialist services

- In person, at a flexible location, such as your home
- In person, at a specific location
- Online, including virtual meetings or webchat
