Insight and best practice

Family Rights Group

Set up or develop a family group conference (FGC) service

Family group conferences work for children, families and local authorities. FGCs help families resolve concerns, keep children safely within their family network and away from the care system, and save money.

FGCs are the gold standard of family group decision making approaches. They are internationally recognised and evaluated, with a set of clear principles.

We can help you to set up a new FGC service or expand an existing service.

How Family Rights Group can help

Local authorities can commission bespoke family group conference training and consultancy packages from us.

If you want to set up a new service

We can provide support for local authorities and organisations who are interested in implementing a family group conference service and would like our assistance with getting started.

If you want to expand or develop an existing FGC service

We offer various training courses, practice development sessions and other types of support for existing family group conference services. For example:

  • FGCs and domestic abuse
  • Engaging families in service design
