Our online advice forums are an anonymous space where parents and kinship carers (also known as family and friends carers) can get legal and practical advice, build a support network and learn from other people’s experiences.
Our get help and advice section has template letters, advice sheets and resources about legal and social care processes. On Monday and Wednesday afternoons, you can use our webchat service to chat online to an adviser.
Pupil Premium Plus is extra funding paid to a child’s school.
The aim of the funding is to help improve the educational attainment of children. The amount of funding paid this year is £2,570 per pupil, and this is paid directly to the school.
Pupil Premium Plus is available for children who are looked after or were previously looked after in the care system and are being raised by a kinship carer. This includes under:
The school has to apply for Pupil Premium Plus.
Kinship carers can do this by sending the school a copy of the relevant court order. Or by asking the child’s social worker to confirm in writing that the child is looked after, and placed with you, their kinship foster carer.
